For clients who need extra airflow, we add vents to our polycarbonate covers. These customizable vents provide the ventilation you need without compromising protection. Our vent window well covers are designed to meet your specific needs, ensuring that your window wells remain secure and well-ventilated. We offer a range of vent options to suit your preferences, providing a practical solution that enhances both function and appearance.
When a Window Well Needs More Airflow
A solid cover keeps a well clean, but some homeowners want more air moving through it. Our vent covers start as the same custom polycarbonate cover we build for any well, then add vents so air can pass while the top stays protected. You decide where the vents go and how much ventilation you want.
Who chooses a vent cover
- Homes where the basement window is opened often for fresh air
- Wells where you want air movement without leaving the top open
- Homeowners who want a cover and a grate's airflow in one piece
How it is built
The cover is made from Lexan polycarbonate with aluminum cross supports and a double main support, riveted with stainless steel. Vent options are customizable, so the layout is planned around your well and window. As with all of our covers, it is built on site in our work truck and attached to the well with clips or an interior lock.
If a radon mitigation pipe runs through or beside the well, see our radon pipe window well cover, which is shaped around the pipe. For the full lineup, visit our custom window well covers page, and our installation page explains the on-site process step by step.
Vent Cover FAQ
Do vents weaken the cover?
The vents are added to a cover built with the same aluminum supports as our standard covers, and your installer still chooses the number of cross bars for the well.
Will rain get in through the vents?
The vents let air through by design, so a vent cover is less sealed than a solid one. We can talk through vent placement for your well before we build it.
Is a vent cover still removable for egress?
Yes. It attaches to the well the same way as our other covers and stays removable from inside.
